Sherwin-Williams Bungalow Beige (SW 7511) is a light-to-mid warm beige with a quiet pink-peach warmth: Sherwin-Williams publishes an LRV of 53.275, an RGB of 205, 191, 176 (hex #CDBFB0), files it in the Neutral family on color strip 250-C2 and rates it for interior and exterior use. In a room it reads as a soft, clearly beige wall rather than an off-white, sitting between the lighter beiges such as Accessible Beige and Natural Linen and the deeper Balanced Beige. It works best in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and entries that get at least moderate daylight, framed by a warm white trim such as Aesthetic White SW 7035, which Sherwin-Williams lists as its coordinating white.
LRV, RGB, Lab values and strip positions below come from Sherwin-Williams' own color pages and color data. Undertone angles and color differences computed from those values are our calculations and are labeled as such; they tell you which way a color leans, not how it will look under your bulbs.

Bungalow Beige SW 7511 at a glance
These values come from the maker's color page (Sherwin-Williams, SW 7511 Bungalow Beige). You will often see the LRV rounded to 53; the full figure is 53.275. Hex and RGB describe how the color is drawn on a screen, not a tinting formula, so treat them as an approximate digital rendering and make the final call on a physical sample.

What an LRV of 53 means on a wall
Light Reflectance Value runs from 0 (absorbs all light) to 100 (reflects all light), as Sherwin-Williams explains in its guide to color by room orientation. At 53.275, Bungalow Beige sits almost exactly in the middle of that scale, which explains its two personalities. In a bright room it looks light and easy, the kind of beige you stop noticing. In a dim room or on the wall beside a window, where you see it against the daylight, it reads a step deeper and more clearly tan.
The gap to the trim is what makes the room feel finished. Aesthetic White, the coordinating white Sherwin-Williams lists, has an LRV of 73.097, about 20 points above the wall. That is enough for baseboards and casings to read as a soft outline, without the hard edge of a bright white trim at LRV 82 to 84.
In short: about 20 points darker than an off-white such as Aesthetic White, so it never passes for a white, and about 8 points lighter than Balanced Beige SW 7037 (LRV 45.6). Sherwin-Williams recommends higher-LRV colors for north-facing rooms, which is the main caution for this one.
The undertone: warm beige with a quiet pink-peach lean
"Is it pink?" is the question most people have about this color, and the published Lab values give a clear answer. In Lab, a positive a value means a red lean and a positive b value means a yellow lean. Bungalow Beige has a = 2.41 and b = 9.33: mostly yellow-beige, with a small but real red component. By our calculation its hue angle is about 75.5 degrees, which places it on the red side of the popular beiges, and its chroma (colorfulness) is about 9.6, moderate for a neutral.
| Color | Lab a / b (Sherwin-Williams) | Hue angle (our calc.) | Chroma (our calc.) | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Realist Beige SW 6078 | 1.95 / 6.85 | 74.1 | 7.1 | Same red lean, but grayer |
| Bungalow Beige SW 7511 | 2.41 / 9.33 | 75.5 | 9.6 | Warm beige, slight pink-peach lean |
| Balanced Beige SW 7037 | 2.30 / 9.97 | 77.0 | 10.2 | Same lean, deeper |
| Kilim Beige SW 6106 | 2.61 / 13.82 | 79.3 | 14.1 | More saturated, more golden |
| Natural Linen SW 9109 | 1.46 / 9.39 | 81.1 | 9.5 | Lighter, creamier |
| Accessible Beige SW 7036 | 0.93 / 8.74 | 83.9 | 8.8 | Cooler, greige side |
Read that table as a direction, not a verdict: Bungalow Beige is not a pink paint. The lean shows when you put it next to something cooler: beside Accessible Beige, a gray sofa or a cool white trim, it can look faintly rosy or peachy. Beside honey oak, terracotta or a creamy white, it reads simply as warm beige. That is also why it pairs so naturally with the earthy accent Sherwin-Williams suggests for it, Copper Harbor.
How Bungalow Beige reads by room orientation
Sherwin-Williams' orientation guide gives the framework: north light is cool and the weakest, south light is steady and warm, and east and west rooms swap between warm and cool depending on the time of day. Applied to a mid-LRV warm beige (Northern Hemisphere):
| Orientation | Light | How Bungalow Beige tends to read |
|---|---|---|
| North-facing | Cool, indirect, least daylight | Deeper and grayer than the chip; the warmth helps offset the cool light, which is what Sherwin-Williams advises, but the mid LRV can feel heavy in a small room |
| South-facing | Steady, warm | Lightest and warmest version; the peach lean is most visible in late afternoon |
| East-facing | Warm morning, cooler evening | Glowing beige at breakfast, a quieter taupe-beige by evening |
| West-facing | Cooler morning, warm evening | Neutral beige by day, warm and rosy at sunset |
| Little or no daylight | Your bulbs | Follows the lamps: warm bulbs push it toward peach, cool bulbs toward a flat gray-beige |
For rooms that live on artificial light, the bulb matters as much as the paint. The FTC's guide to shopping for light bulbs points to the Lighting Facts label on the box, which shows where a bulb falls on the warm (more yellow) to cool (more blue) range. Pick the bulbs first, then judge the sample under them. Bungalow Beige under warm bulbs and the same wall under cool daylight-style bulbs can look like two different colors.
Bungalow Beige room by room
Living room
This is the natural home for Bungalow Beige. At LRV 53 it gives a large room a warm envelope without the closed-in feel of a deeper greige, and it flatters oak, walnut, leather, linen and brass. Watch two things: a cream sofa sits very close to this wall color (add contrast with wood or a darker rug), and a cool gray sectional brings out the pink lean. Sherwin-Williams' paint sheen guide suggests satin or eggshell for living rooms, a good balance between a soft look and wipeable walls.
Bedroom
In a bedroom the warmth is the point: under warm bedside lamps, Bungalow Beige turns soft and cocooning, with white or natural linen bedding and wood furniture. In a small north-facing bedroom, sample it first: the same color one strip step lighter, Rivers Edge SW 7517 (LRV 62.934), keeps the warmth with more light. The sheen guide recommends eggshell or satin for bedrooms.
Kitchen
Bungalow Beige works on kitchen walls in two common setups. With white or off-white cabinets, it gives the room warmth so the whites do not look stark; choose a warm cabinet white, because a cool white next to it makes the wall look pinker. With medium oak or cherry cabinets it is a calm backdrop, though very orange wood pushes the room toward peach. For kitchen walls, Sherwin-Williams' sheen guide says semi-gloss for easy cleaning. If you are thinking about painting the cabinets themselves, use the cabinet mode of our interior tool, and see how a close neighbor behaves on doors in our Accessible Beige kitchen cabinets guide.
Entry, hallway and stairs
Entries and halls are where a mid-LRV beige earns its keep: it hides scuffs far better than a white and carries well into the surrounding rooms as a whole-house color. These spaces often live on borrowed light, so check the sample with the overhead light on. The sheen guide suggests satin for areas prone to nicks and scuffs. A dark front door in Urbane Bronze SW 7048 (LRV 8.121) or Iron Ore SW 7069 (LRV 5.55) looks strong against it; those are our suggestions, not Sherwin-Williams pairings.
Strip 250: Bungalow Beige and its neighbors
Bungalow Beige is the second color on strip 250, a ladder of warm beiges and taupes. The strip is useful when you like the color but need it a step lighter or deeper, or want a darker shade from the same family for an accent. Values from Sherwin-Williams' color data:
| Location | Color | LRV | Typical use beside Bungalow Beige |
|---|---|---|---|
| 250-C1 | Rivers Edge SW 7517 | 62.934 | Lighter version for dim rooms or ceilings |
| 250-C2 | Bungalow Beige SW 7511 | 53.275 | Main wall color |
| 250-C3 | Dhurrie Beige SW 7524 | 50.446 | Almost the same; a hair deeper |
| 250-C4 | Pavilion Beige SW 7512 | 47.972 | Slightly deeper wall |
| 250-C5 | Threshold Taupe SW 7501 | 33.617 | Accent wall, wainscot |
| 250-C6 | Dry Dock SW 7502 | 28.001 | Built-ins, island |
| 250-C7 | Tiki Hut SW 7509 | 16.929 | Doors, lower cabinets |
The strip has an oddity worth knowing: Bungalow Beige, Dhurrie Beige and Pavilion Beige sit within about 5 LRV points of each other, so Dhurrie Beige is less a "darker version" than a near-twin. By our ΔE2000 calculation from the published Lab values, Dhurrie Beige is the closest Sherwin-Williams color to Bungalow Beige (about 1.8), followed by Nantucket Dune SW 7527 (about 2.3, LRV 53.577), which has almost the same lightness but a more golden, saturated cast.
Bungalow Beige vs Balanced Beige, Accessible Beige, Natural Linen and Kilim Beige
These are the four beiges people most often put next to Bungalow Beige. LRV and hex come from each color's Sherwin-Williams page; the color difference column is our ΔE2000 calculation from the published Lab values. As a common rule of thumb, a difference around 1 is hard to see on a wall, and 2 to 5 shows clearly when two large samples sit side by side.
| Color | LRV | Hex (screen) | SW family | ΔE2000 vs Bungalow Beige (our calc.) | The difference on a wall |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bungalow Beige SW 7511 | 53.275 | #CDBFB0 | Neutral | 0 | Warm beige, slight pink-peach lean |
| Balanced Beige SW 7037 | 45.6 | #C0B2A2 | Neutral | 3.5 | Same direction, one clear step deeper |
| Accessible Beige SW 7036 | 57.67 | #D1C7B8 | Neutral | 2.7 | A little lighter and grayer, less rosy |
| Natural Linen SW 9109 | 66.329 | #DFD3C3 | Yellow | 4.9 | Noticeably lighter, creamier |
| Kilim Beige SW 6106 | 57.191 | #D7C5AE | Orange | 3.4 | Lighter and more golden, more color |
- Bungalow Beige vs Balanced Beige. Balanced Beige is SW 7037, sitting on the neighboring strip at 249-C2. It shares Bungalow Beige's slight red lean but is about 8 LRV points deeper, so it reads as a cozier, heavier taupe-beige. Choose Bungalow Beige for a lighter everyday wall, Balanced Beige for a den or a sunny room that can take depth. Our Balanced Beige SW 7037 guide covers that color room by room.
- Bungalow Beige vs Accessible Beige. The closest of the four in feel. Accessible Beige is about 4 points lighter and has less red (Lab a 0.93 against 2.41), so it looks more greige. If Bungalow Beige looks pink in your samples, Accessible Beige is the usual fix; if Accessible Beige looks gray and flat, go the other way. The Accessible Beige undertones guide goes deeper, and Accessible Beige vs Balanced Beige compares the two strip-mates (LRV 57.67 against 45.6).
- Bungalow Beige vs Natural Linen. Natural Linen is the lightest of the group at LRV 66.329, about 13 points above Bungalow Beige, and Sherwin-Williams files it under Yellow. It is the safer choice for a dim or north-facing room where Bungalow Beige would look too dark. See the Natural Linen guide and Natural Linen vs Accessible Beige.
- Bungalow Beige vs Kilim Beige. Kilim Beige is a little lighter (57.191) but clearly more saturated, with a chroma of about 14 against 9.6 by our calculation. It looks more golden and "beige-beige", where Bungalow Beige looks softer and dustier. More in our Kilim Beige guide.
Realist Beige SW 6078 (LRV 58.973) is the grayer, quieter take on the same warm direction: nearly the same hue angle, less chroma.
Trim, ceiling and companion colors
A warm beige needs a warm or neutral white beside it. A cool, blue-leaning white makes the wall look dingy and pushes the pink forward. The rows marked "SW pairing" are Sherwin-Williams' own coordinating colors for Bungalow Beige; the others are our suggestions, with LRVs from Sherwin-Williams' color pages.
| Role | Color | LRV | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soft trim (SW pairing) | Aesthetic White SW 7035 | 73.097 | Low-contrast, enveloping outline |
| Creamy trim or ceiling (SW pairing) | Vanillin SW 6371 | 77.861 | Warmer, more traditional look |
| Classic trim | Alabaster SW 7008 | 82.215 | Clean, still warm edge |
| Crisp trim | Pure White SW 7005 | 83.957 | Highest contrast that stays friendly |
| Accent (SW pairing) | Copper Harbor SW 6634 | 29.714 | Terracotta-orange for a door, art wall or textiles |
| Deep neutral | Foothills SW 7514 | 18.214 | Sherwin-Williams lists Bungalow Beige among its coordinating colors; good for an island or built-ins |
| Door or cabinet contrast | Iron Ore SW 7069 | 5.55 | Near-black, modern contrast |
Sherwin-Williams' sheen guide notes that sheen can slightly change how light or dark a color looks, and recommends semi-gloss for trim and moldings. Detailed profiles of two of the trims are in our Aesthetic White SW 7035 guide and Pure White guide, and the darker accents in the Urbane Bronze profile.
Which product and sheen
Three Sherwin-Williams interior lines suit a wall color like this one (ask the store which lines carry it), with the details their product pages give:
- Emerald Interior: Flat, Matte, Satin and Semi-Gloss; Sherwin-Williams cites scrub, stain and burnish resistance. A good fit for living rooms, kitchens and halls.
- Duration Home: the same four sheens, positioned for durability in bathrooms and other damp areas.
- Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel: for trim, doors and cabinets painted in one of the companion colors.
Going over a strong existing color such as navy or deep green, plan for a primer or an extra coat: a light-to-mid beige needs help to hide a dark base. If your home was built before 1978 and you will sand or scrape old trim, the EPA warns it may contain lead-based paint; follow its lead-safe practices for do-it-yourselfers (wet sanding, HEPA vacuum, sealed-off work area).
Does Bungalow Beige work outside?
Sherwin-Williams rates it for exterior use. Full sun lifts a mid-LRV color, so it tends to read lighter on siding than on a living-room wall. This page stays inside; for exterior products, start with our Sherwin-Williams exterior paint guide.
